Muktinath

Muktinath is a sacred place both for Hindus and Buddhists located in Muktinath Valley at an altitude of 3,710 meters at the foot of the Thorong La mountain pass (part of the Himalayas), Mustang district, Nepal. The site is close to the village of Ranipauwa, which sometimes mistakenly is called Muktinath as well.


The Hindus call the sacred place Mukti Kshetra, which literally means the "place of salvation". It is also one of the 51 Sakthi peetams. The Buddhists call it Chumig Gyatsa, which in Tibetan means 'Hundred Waters'. For Tibetan Buddhists Muktinath-Chumig Gyatsa is a very important place of Dakinis, goddesses known as Sky Dancers and one of the 24 Tantric places. They understand the murti to be a manifestation of Avalokitesvara.


Travel access

Access is difficult because of tough weather conditions.
One can fly from Kathmandu to Pokhara and then from Pokhara to Jomsom Airport. From there, one can either trek all the way or take a jeep to Muktinath. Some tourists are also known to charter a helicopter all the way to Muktinath which takes around forty five minutes to reach. The helicopter can be hired only when the weather permits.

Arriving by helicopter for a longer period of stay is not recommended because of the risk of acute mountain sickness. Accommodation is available in Muktinath, Kagbeni or Jomsom.

Ilam (Nepali: ईलाम) is a municipality and tea-producing town in Nepal. It is in Ilam District which is in hilly Eastern Region of Nepal. It is famous for its natural scenery and landscapes.



Ilam is a small hilly town with pristine landscapes of sloped tea gardens, thick natural forests, holy sites and a unique culture. There are several holy sites one can visit in and around the area. Ilam is a popular tourist destination for travelers of all kinds. It is also famous for its special brand Ilam Tea.

Ghandruk is a town and Village Development Committee in Kaski District in the Gandaki Zone of northern-central Nepal. At the time of the 1991 Nepal census it had a population of 4,748 persons living in 1,013 individual households.[1]
Ghandruk is a popular place for treks in the Annapurna range of Nepal, with easy trails and various accommodation possibilities. From Ghandruk there are views to the mountains of Annapurna including Machapuchare.



Some people called this village as Ghandrung Village as well. Ghandruk is famous for trekking from where you can see best views of Annapurna South and Fishtail mountain. From Pokhara it takes 42 kilometers drive and 5–6 hours walking distance

Beni

Beni (28°21'0N 83°34'0E ) is the district headquarters of Myagdi District in Dhawalagiri Zone, Nepal. It is located on the confluence of Kali River and Myagdi river at an altitude of 899 metres. It is the northernmost of the Tri-cities area of Nepal.



It is located 12 km to the north of Zonal headquarters Baglung. It is a bustling town lined with stores, restaurants, hotels and various government offices.

Places to Visit




The Fewa (or Phewa) Lake 1.5 kilometer long, second largest lake in Nepal, offers an excellent view of the mountains and their reflections on the lake. Many tours and trekking operators and hotels are located on the lakeside. One can easily find a place to sit back, relax and enjoy great meal while enjoying scenery here. You will also enjoy boating on the lake. Most hotels and guest houses have traditional designs and layouts which match with the surrounding views. Kusma Visit

The old name of this cave is 'BhaluDulo'. Around 1940, a few local men saw a very strange place, covered by debris and grasses near the Kaligandaki river. Many people were curious about it, and they cleared the outermost part of debris and grasses, and then entered into the cave. They found an unbelievable (to them), strange dark area full of various statues and portraits of Hindu Gods and Goddesses. A very strange sound of a waterfall inside the cave, the statue of Pandava in rocks, Mahadev and Parvati, Saraswati, Nageswor and other goddess statues are interesting to see. It is considered to be one of the longest caves in Nepal.




Most of the inside the cave is made up of deposition of calcium carbonate dissolved from surrounding limestone, with ground water which is a general concept of forming most of the cave. All statues and all portraits which can be seen inside the cave are natural. "Chaite Dashain" and "Mahashivaratri" are the most important days to visit the Gupteswar Cave for the Hindu prayers. Many species of bats inside the cave are also an attraction for visitors. It is located 15 minutes walking distance from the Kusma city, about 55 kilometres from the Pokhara city and 17 kilometres from the Baglung city.
